Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Richmond and El Segundo

The west coast refineries run a lot of Middle East crude slates, their on hand stocks are probably good for a week or so depending on where they on the resupply cycle. Assume there is some business continuity plan for supply disruptions.

Yeah, we get it. Get the spirit.
But this bull s*** type of message can only "inspire" any current employees.

This aligns with AW’s long-standing assertions. The California PR strategy is a failed legacy project shaped by previous uniformed, conservative CA advisors SMc and TK, rather than a purely functional shift. It’s a long-term tactic to bully CA away from the combustion vehicle ban.

@q8 Valero in the Bay Area (Benecia) is converting from a refinery to marketing terminal..which is the most prudent thing for them to do from a businesss standpoint. If CVX Richmond would do the same thing ... I would revel in the lost tax and "bribe" money CVX has been paying to the very progresive Richmond city council!

Doubtful these refineries would be shut completely - too much liability for environmental remediation - more likely is they would convert to refined product import terminals as they have the marine access, tankage, loading facility, and connection to pipeline distribution networks. That would still result in significant layoffs as it would need a far smaller workforce.

Another empty threat from AW. The board won't allow these refineries to close while they remain profitable. Perhaps they can get sold, but to who? AW likes screaming about these things, and I think it's largely due to some confusing attraction he has to Gavin Newsom.

These two refineries will be shut down, and all union operators will be laid off.

@b5 "You get what you voted for"

Do you mean GN or DT?

West Coast MOGAS is about to go parabolic... will be profitable in the short term (which will cause bad press....)

"You get what you voted for" is about to present itself in earnest in 2026... this was going to be the case BEFORE Operation Epic Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round that Old Oak Tree happened. Perhaps a return to the pain of the 1970's - hopefully brief - will steer things back to a viable, sustainable future.

This is a time that RIC and ESE can shine, walk the talk with respect to OE, and Safe Operations... CA, OR, WA, AZ, NV are counting on us.

@ah

lol. AW is bluffing. No way he would do that in the short term. His PMP won’t allow it.

Are they going to shutdown the refineries in CA? Andy’s Video shows that he’s serious about shutting down el segundo and Richmond
