Panelist selection for “My Onboarding Journey”

Wanted to ask if anyone knew how does one get selected to be a panelist and talk about their experience at Cisco. I’ve been at Cisco for 4 years and have never been selected to be a panelist while a colleague of mine has joined less than a year ago and was selected.

We don’t do formal reviews, but does Cisco retain a secret database which grade employees? And can that grading system “dead end” your career?

I left in 2016. At that time, we were told that even though we were no longer receiving formal reviews or notified of our rankings, the process was still in place but kept secret as part of the ‘People Deal’. This was done so the employees would not be stressed by knowing how they stood with their management (so we were told).

To start with, you can’t be posting to TheLayoff.com

I’m glad I haven’t been employed there for a while and yet I feel compelled to ask: who are these panels talking to, and if the selection process is biased do they know they will essentially be lied to?

This is the same environment as a high school popularity contest.

Only the cool people get asked to be part of the Homecoming Committee.

At Cisco you are either in or out. The in crowd is well connected and showing career progression. The out crowd is not selected for anything and will not advance in their careers. If your career is stagnant, it’s only a matter of time before you get LR’d.

Certainly there is a grading system. Has to be.
As to being an Onboarding Panelist, posting such questions on a Layoff board is more fit for waterboarding.
