@1m7 exactly! The manage your manager mentality. If you have to manage them, then they have no business being your manager. It’s not like you are going to be paid more to do it either.

Managers who expect you to manage up, instead of being willing to manage down / lateral.

You are right! In the eyes of Snowflake, Databricks, Google, Oracle, etc., Teradata is doing just fine! No threat, nothing competitive, stealing remaining customers like taking candy from a baby.

I have no respect for a company that doesn't understand customer pain and desires is what truly drives valuable R&D and innovation, not management intuition or slapping the letters "AI" on everything.

I have no respect for our pre-sales leader who tells everyone there is a travel ban, yet he will swan around the APJ region like it's a holiday. He has been here for what like 30 odd years and has no skills outside of being a developer decades ago. He still lives in the past

I've had good managers. I've had bad managers. I've seen really competent people get let while while incompetent people get promoted. I've seen directors having to pivot time and time again because of changes above their level. I've seen VPS come in and stir up controversy. Change can be good - but I have little confidence that their changes are in the right direction.

Am I happy? No. Am I looking? Yes. Have I lost confidence and respect for this company? Definitely.

@bs do you have any respect for your managers manager, who constantly moves goal post for your manager, just because? No respect for you if you do.
Who is calling April for a game of restructure and yet another new direction?

I have no respect for a manager who constantly changes his mind and pulls the team in different directions without providing clear guidance, showing only ambiguity.

I have no respect for...a company who do not value subject matter experts as critical assets.
