Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy’s will hurt itself in the long run

Trying to push out all full time, paying below living wage, trying to push out employees over 60, cutting all employee perks and benefits to bare minimum, will hurt macys in the long run, this penny pinching way of managing a retail store worked after covid, but now employees are customers are catching on that something is not right.

Working in Tech was much better than the Stores. My Field team was let go over 3 years ago but I still have a lot of friends and people I worked with for a long time that are affected by this company and their actions. Have no idea what the future holds or which stores will be closing next. If anyone has any info related to store closings would like to stay updated. The last poster is correct that retail is not meant to be a life long career I second that. Unless you’re upper management and dictate the terms it’s not worth it trust me.

Retail positions either customer facing or support were never meant to be a permeant type of position to live off of. Not at Macy*s or any other retailer, not now or in the future.

Yep that’s true but now they’re stuck with a bunch of full time people they can’t figure out how to give full time hours to.

You need to catch up with the times, pal. Macy's just got rid of the variables (heavy part time) and anyone who wanted to be full time was given the option to do it. I'm in a mid size store and it was reported to us that 38 people became full time with immediate benefits at the end of November. Variable was a.bad idea and they company listened and got rid of it.
