Especially with gas prices climbing. And since raises don't keep up with actual inflation, the rumored 5-day RTO would fit perfectly with their plan to push out as many of us as they can.

Considering I used to be 5 days a week 7 am-6 pm basically, I much prefer the current situation.

Why exactly are we doing this to ourselves? The only people that should be going into an office where you can't be remote because a physical presence is required, hospital, deliveries, grocery store etc.
It's so simple but yet so unnecessary complicated.
Every day I walk into the office I have to mentally prep for having the most inefficient 3 days of the week. Instead of getting up and sitting on Teams calls I get to drive into an office and sit on calls. But I do get to decline meetings before and after my official timezone.

My new gig is fully remote. I'm so thankful I don't have to drive in. It saves me time and money!
