Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

May be unpopular, but good riddance 🫡

Going against the conventional flow o with this post: (a.) thankfully, I wasn’t impacted (b.) not surprised to see this large of a cut—we all knew there would be a round 2, esp once MD was let go 6mo ago (c.) tbh most of those impacted NEEDED TO GO and were low performing and not talented. Feel free to challenge this, but hard to see anyone strongly disagreeing.

Leave you with this: Polymarket is taking bets EH is next to go in <12mos. Take that side bet

@OP

"most of those impacted NEEDED TO GO and were low performing and not talented"

So you took the time to deeply investigate most of the terminated employees across the enterprise, well enough that you can confidently speak on their talent and performance?

Either
(a) you are fulla sh-t
(b) you are spending too much time monitoring others and too little on your own work

Which is it, chief?

How many of y’all think OP and their cr-ppy attitude should be the next to go, and soon?

You're wrong that everyone let go was a low performer. Maybe some were, but for the most part, the cuts in the US were intended for VPs to hire the same number of people back in ITC so they could maintain their span of control and their jobs with a lower budget.

I think you are just as distasteful as the people that thought today was a good day to announce their Nike promotions on LinkedIn. See to most of us, we see keeping people like you as the biggest problem every wave. Business is business but empathy and integrity are more important than the disgusting organization this has become.

I like how you don’t let facts get in the way of your opinion. I also admire your courage to speak in the absence of knowledge. Are you a Nike noob?

Of the many people that we lost in our org., and there were plenty, most of them were talented and high-performers. Even if your corner of Nike reflected a different scenario, coming to a board like this and spouting cr-p like this, doesn’t help anyone. Keep these hatful and insensitive grievances to yourself.

What do you mean "round 2"? Clearly you haven't been around very long. This is yet another round in a long series of rounds at least over the last 20 years.

Goober.

This is the d-mbest fu--ing thing I've ever read on this site and it shows op doesn't grasp how the sauce is made. This was a cut for a buck today with lipstick of new org names to tacitly justify it. The mantra is do more with less. It has nothing to do with talent and will fu-k us on labor density alone.

I have only seen good and committed people go, some a--holes included. Make no mistake when tech can no longer support the insane cadence of biz asks, which it already could not yoy, the same rif mower is going to boomerang over the rest of the company.
