IBM Layoffs (Redeployment) RAs

There has been growing chatter about IBM's redeployments. Tom Claburn with the Register wrote about one of the redeployments previously (link below). He is currently looking for those who are or have been included in a redeployment. Just reach out to him. The redeployment will eventually become an RA and you will be offered 3 months severance.

If you are 40 or older, I recommend you think very hard about not signing the severance agreement if you are still around at the end. If you believe it is age discrimination, it is to your advantage to join a class action suit. If you sign, you can only pursue legal avenues through arbitration. Do the research. IBM doesn't want Ginny's emails being released in court. They keep settling right after the court gets ready to release her emails.

I agree - your chances of getting hired internally are small and will require re-location
I disagree - your chances of getting hired externally are far higher than internally.
That is my current experience .... few inside good matches and LOTS of outside good matches.

So milk your re-deployment job search and boost your skills (as researched) and take the best - internal or external.

Most jobs are contract. For some reason majority of the recruiters sending e-mails for the position are Indian and jobs are hundred to thousands of miles from my location

Under no circumstances should you sign away your right to participate in a class action suit nor sue IBM. IBM is settling many age related lawsuits as I write this note.

If you are over 40 and in a redeployment your chances of getting hired are very small and most jobs will require relocation. They are driving people our to save money. This is the new strategy
