Thread regarding USAA layoffs

One year later, I'm glad they cut me

It’s been exactly one year since my short meeting that ended my time at USAA. I stopped by here to see how things are going, and all I can say is I feel bad for everyone still stuck there. Even when I left, getting work done was already a nightmare, and from what I can see, it’s only gotten worse since then. If you can, I’d seriously suggest trying to leave. My layoff ended up being exactly what I needed to get out of a toxic place and find something where I don’t dread even the thought of work.

@ac None of it is left. The place is an absolute back-stabbing cesspool. Really sad because I was so excited to get a job there. Worst career move of my entire life.

Bank layoff before 2025 was the best case scenario. Double stacking salary in 2025 was god send.

@OP My one-year anniversary of receiving notice (in a group Zoom) is in 3 weeks. My leader at that time was phenomenal, but when he was forced out 2 months prior, I knew it was just a matter of time. I was fortunate to be close enough to retirement that I just walked (ran?) and never looked back. I certainly miss the people and some of the more challenging and creative work over the years. But the toxicity, constant direction change, disrespect, and lack of transparency took its toll.

I used to love the core DNA of USAA. I'm just not sure how much of it is left.
