Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What happens to RSUs?

Can anyone elaborate on what happens with RSU's if you are currently getting package? I'm looking for specifics (in advance of next round) so I can plan accordingly. I'm assuming you just get the 60 days on payroll to vest but hoping they may forward vest some. Retirement eligible may be a variable also.

Thanks in advance. Good luck to all.

@jb what is the different formula you talked about?

Early Retirement clause is inserted into RSU grant agreement since 2023. Age + years of service >= 70 would qualify for ER once the grant passes its one year cliff.

@f2 Cisco does not use rule of 70. They have a different formula.

I heard if one is affected in August, his last RSU vest will be on Nov 10, 2026 (which includes the Nov 2025 grant).

If you're lucky enough to benefit from Rule of 70 acceleration your grants from 2023 and 2024 fully vest on termination. For 2025 grants you'd need to make it 1 full year from the grant date (ie Nov 2026) or you lose it just like the pre-2023 grants-- unless you can extend your termination through Nov when you'll also get the pre-2023 regular vestings.

there's no such thing as acceleration, you get 60 days and whatever is scheduled to vest during that time, you get. The rest, Chuck gets to keep while you pound sand.

@ax,

Is it true that RSU vesting is for 90 days and not just 60 days? Has it been the case for previous layoffs too?

From current round 90 day RSU vest acceleration thru August 12, 2026

unvested RSU will be given to your VPs best buddies, you got LR'ed mostly because they want your unvested RSU back.

Correct. You get 60 days to vest, and then bye-bye.

So are you thinking somehow unvested become vested; and then there is a major payout? Ha. Those options go back into the pool, for the next round of people they hire can also play the Hunger Games.
