Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Never quit

Just a P.S.A. that bears repeating: Even though it feels like it would be better to quit since EJ has become such a toxic work place / environment, do not quit. If you do quit on your own volition, you are giving up many legal protections. Make them fire you. Learn the code words for ageism in disguise: "over-qualified," "passing the torch," "new perspective or cultural fit," "fresh energy," "doesn't want to learn the new technology" to name a couple. There are more and the company will dress it up as a compliment.

HR is NOT your friend.

@s0 this. If you're going to sh-t all over you workers like the wall street bros, you need to at least pay us. You cant be cheap with us while trying this creepy little rule by fear micromanagement thing. This isnt india no matter how much you want it it to be, ELT.

@de One of the worst things about the bootlickers is, they will tell you "Well this is how it is everywhere else. You've been babied at Jones." Well, Jones also pays well below market rate for equal work. If Jones wants to be like every other firm and expect employees to get on board, they have to pay like other firms.

@qg When are the age-discrimination and retaliation lawsuits coming?

@df Looks like local media got this one yesterday.

For real though, where are the whistle blowers at for this place? I know a lot of people over the years kept quiet or looked the other way on stuff because we were still one big dysfunctional family. Not anymore. ELT and penny have kicked a hornets nest these last 2 years. Ki-ling off the HBA program and telling single parent households to kick rocks regarding child school drop off is the line in the sand. Absolutely disgusting the way these monsters have handled this "transformation"

@bs I'm not waiting at this point. I've been feeding local media contact all kinds of wonderful information about our "transformation" journey to the far east and all the cool little risks that I've been told to disregard or sweep under the rug because it would hurt the client trust. I've heard through the grapevine the reason we can't go public or merge is because once the curtain is pulled back, FINRA, SEC, and lawyers will have an absolute field day with all the skeletons in the closet. Some of these GPs and ELT should be perp walked.

The ironic thing about a company like Jones is they don't pay their employees what they should, so many have to get16 help through public assistance which, in turn, basically puts the burden on the American taxpayers while the Jones ELT ( and other corporations) make millions annually. And we wonder why the middle class is no more?

@c7, I applaud you. I'm leaving with no job. To me we have one life and I'm going to enjoy it.

I quit. I got a 25% raise, I'm not asked to work 50 hours a week with no overtime pay to keep up with the workload, and the leadership aren't a bunch of sociopaths. I don't live in fear of my job being outsourced.

It is so much easier to find a job when you already have a job. I advocate for sending out resumes and going on interviews while EJ pays you.

Offer good severance and I'll sign NDA. No severance, no NDA and I already know what I'm telling outside of the firm and who to. Know how to do it anon. Prob will cost about 1 to 10 years of my salary in the end. Your move ELT. Don't mess with the people cooking your food.

I'm nowhere close to retirement, but since the job market is terrible right now, I Ill be putting in my 8hr work days in june and doing just enough to not get fired while still job shopping. I also think ELT was hoping a lot of us would quit by now, but havent. So, the only thing that gives me comfort right now with the new RTO is that each paycheck I get from EDJ, is another 'sc--w you' to the bags of sh-t that currently run this dumpster fire.

Right on! I could retire right now with a bit of discomfort. But I have decided I am vindictive enough to go back to the office and make them fire me. I was so loyal to the old Jones and I do understand change but Penny you and your minions brought in subcontractors that don't care about the client. They care about DFLs. Do you understand that new vendor lingo Penny? Dfls? I want you to tell us how many clients have been adversely effected thru bad 3rd party service. I've caught a few but hey who cares when you make millions.
