My hours went from 40 to 32 now I'm being cut to 28. Only the Captains in my store have guaranteed 40 hr weeks. But they're are a few pets who somehow are still getting 40 hrs when they are not supposed to. Should I file an HR complaint or not. I've gone into try to get any available hrs and they're aren't any. I get called on my day off when someone calls off its the only time my store knows I exist. But yet somehow the sl--e that they hire still keep their job while those of us who show up for wages screwed. Should I file or not !! Need some advice.

Unless you're in a commission area, your only guaranteed 28 hours & even that depends on your coding. Hours balances come & go depending on the time of year. They can be held back from staffing in an effort to make their budget & then dropped in suddenly at the store level with no possibility to fill them all. Remember, do what you love for work. If Macys makes you happy, then maybe stop complaining about the hours. Otherwise move on.
Unless other stores were lucky to get plenty of seasonal hires, I don't get how other stores are cutting hours. We went thru xmas with over 60+ seasonal positions never filled and all thru the holidays and even now, people basically being allowed to work as many hours as they want. Still so much prep work for inventory and not nearly enough people.
Unfortunately by the time you file a complaint they will drag their heels as long as they can. You could be waiting a while for an answer. I would look to move on as quickly as you can.
Here is some advice
Take your hard work and talents to another retailer who will appreciate you and know your worth. Macys is a comparable to a High School setting. Loads of drama and cliques it’s all in who you know.
