CVX - AI Trailblazer?

According to this CNBC story, CVX is leading companies like Google and Microsoft in adopting AI. Really?

@nj looks like your right. 300MM on exploration wells in 2025 and 150MM on AI including consultants. So only 2x.

But answer may be influenced by me asking AI.

@nh Chevron spends less on AI than exploration, obviously.

In fact, Chevron spends more on BCG managing AI than on AI itself. That is probably how they made this list.

The Chevron executives, especially IT ones, are worried about a million here and there, stopping every little thing, while they’re trying to hang with real AI companies worth a trillion dollars.

If I had to guess, Chevron spends at least 5x more on management consultants than on building anything AI with the tiny team.

You think they’ll break out AI spend in the financials? What do we spend more on, AI or exploration?

@OP
Chevron is probably using AI in the Engine and the people in the USA are too late to the party. Yeah, right that is happening in LC’s dreams. I heard a rumor that LC is getting frustrated with how the Engine is not getting anything done…

I see an attempt to downvote honest opinions about Chevron‘a inability to lead AI. Tell me…if you really think they can lead AI, give me examples of how you have seen them leading a new innovation ? Let’s talk facts. They were not do what consultants tell them to do for millions of dollars.

@cx - you got it bud. We should get double credit for paying for both consultants on one side and SLB on the other.

Ah, another pay-to-play list

Not unlike Gartner’s magic quadrant. Or AK’s data “award” as the top AI influencer in North America. You pay, and you get on lists.

In this case, useless companies like BCG working with the AI team, even though every single employee hates them and it’s obvious to everyone that the BCG resources bring nothing to the table — they are basically only good for lists like these. External recognition of a whole bunch of nothing.

We can laugh at CVX being on this list all we want, but how about SLB scoring “100”? SLB has no AI working anywhere. Weren’t we supposed to be done with triple crown with all the AI about 3-4 years ago? Where has that been? We still can’t get delfi to work!

That's ridiculous. We are dealing with keeping the lights on & app rationalization. Forget AI... It's an after thought. Definitely not leading anyone. Who is that gullible??

Give me a break. Chevron leading anything especially AI makes no sense. We are a follower- full stop.
