Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

I sing living on a prayer everyday driving into this place. There is no way they can get out of the jam they put themselves in.

@j6

You are lumping in execs who weren’t even NY Cablevision people and criticizing the whole lot over their ineptitude. If you think for one second that legacy Cablevision talent that services $10,000,000 homes in Westchester and LI can’t redesign a feeder run through a swamp, you’re crazy. Don’t hurt your elbow while patting yourself on the back there bud. How many calls have you had where the main house has its own amp in the basement and the guest house has an LE to feed the pool area and golf course? If you actually saw real Cablevision techs, that swamp would have been up and running by the end of the day no matter how much damage there was. There is a big difference between AAA and the Major Leagues.

Suddenlink was a JV asset with JV management. Cablevision was the best cable operator in the nation with the best management. If on day one PD let the Cablevision folks run the ship, and PD just got out of the way, he'd be far richer than he'll ever be...

I wouldn’t phrase it as NY thing. Many of them are based in Plano Texas. When it was Cablevision based in Long Island, NY it was a top tier company. These crooks live in NY yes and majority of the early crew were actually from Europe and even the current ELT none are from NY. Drahi just wanted headquarters moved from Long Island to NYC to have a vanity address. Would be better if closed LIC and moved HQ back to Bethpage which is bigger and much more conducive to collaboration. However that is just a pipe dream.

I’ve been gone from the circus for a couple of years now so I don’t have a dog in the fight anymore. I went to work in the West back when it was COX and then the Middle America region of Cox was acquired and became Suddenlink. At the time of the acquisition of Suddenlink by PD and his band of losers Suddenlink was one of the most profitable and efficiently ran businesses in the country and that’s what caught the attention of PD. We knew immediately these people knew absolutely NOTHING about operating an MSO in the United States. During hurricane restoration in 2020 these pompous @ss losers thought they could fly into Lake Charles and show us how to do storm restoration. Let me tell you we had rebuilt Lake Charles and the surrounding areas DOZENS of times over some 20 plus years and did it in a quarter of the time the $hit show, NY bunch brought with them. What I saw from NY was beyond stupid and in NY fashion proceeded to demolish a very efficient procedure that had been in place for over 20 years and turn it into a $hitstorm dumpster fire. So much so that the State Senate summoned the Go-k and other “leaders” to the capital to find out why it was taking almost 4 MONTHS to restore when over the last 20 years and with much worse storms and damage it normally took 6 or 7 weeks. And I won’t even mention the complete lack of knowledge and skill of the design department in NY. I personally QC’d the designs coming out of NY for upgrades taking place in the West and I honestly thought high school kids had done it. NY markets in my opinion were too lazy and ignorant that’s why it was always a $hit show there. Everyone is too Union focused to do their job. They want someone else to SAVE THEIR JOB. Glad to be away from the losers

oo man, this turned into East v West lol... the west fell because they fired everyone that knew how the west worked early on and then forgot about it for 6 years because the East is more se-y, everyone wants a NYC highrise office then helicopter to Bethpage for 100k to attend a meeting that could have been an email and spend another 100k to fly back, then went o yeah.... I guess we should give those backwards gross poors in the west some targeted ads and infostructure improvements.... then we ran out of money.

@h9 the west is already dead. Look at the 8k report. The west, News, advertising, and mobile - and 21 billion Dollars in debt were separated out and will be sacrificed. "Cablevision" and Lightpath will survive to be sold to another MSO.

@h1

The West can’t be pawned since no one wants it. It’s all low income, spread out, plant is a million years old territory. It’s the last cable system any mso would want.

@cd the only glimmer of hope is that someone finally saw their way to separating Cablevision from the boat anchor. Too bad anyone who knows how to run it was summarily executed or had enough of the browbeating and walked out before the iced coffee shakers with law degrees in HR walked them out.

Current employees should be updating their resumes. This is not going to end well for a lot of them.
