APA needs fresh leadership and outside talent. Too many long-tenured life-long apaches filling the manager positions in critical business units, weak morale, and missed potential despite good people. Lot of talent from supporting fucntions, supply chain, accounting, IT etc. let go. Super talented Permain and Egypt employees quit or laid-off. RC manager in egypt finally let go. Good riddance- absolute dead weight. JC, MM etc have nothing to be proud of.

@hx I don't mind the guy. He's ok. But I'm talking about organizational culture here and what APA rewards. Are there any elements of meritocracy, emotional intelligence, propriety, and "how you carry yourself" that factor into who represents and leads?
AO used to be nice, some years ago
Geo guy from Egypt promoted to Permian is special…
@gq you apparently never got insulted or talked down to by him in a group setting
@e7 who is AO and what did they do well or poorly
Jordan Peterson said that if you're constantly complaining about your partner, you're basically holding up a sign that says, "Look how stupid I am. I chose this person, and now I'm always complaining about them ir wnating to change."
Likewise, JC seems to have no clue that many Apache lifers constantly talk sm--k about him and the executive leadership team. For example, take that geo guy who went from Egypt to Permian...I've never heard him say a single positive thing about Apache, yet they promoted him into leadership. HOW? Apache leadership hasn't developed s culture to really read personalities and figure out who the truly "loyal, proper, and caring" employees are.
How about the change from asset to functional models every 3 years at APA? Are you kidding me? How can a CEO even get away with this? This is public money amd not a private organization.
I've been at APA for somewhere between 8 and 15 years, and my observation has always been that people who come in from outside the company tend to show far more gratitude than these Apache lifers.
Do you see many former employees from EOG, Devon, or Diamondback at Apache? No. There's hardly any room because these Apache lifers have it too good and protected and easy. Big Daddy has taken very good care of them for years. The truth is that executive leadership has never really enjoyed much goodwill from these folks anyway. What a shame.
Now AO is gone. Everyone is happy and smiling.
@cs amen!
As a former exec VP told me years ago, JC is stupid and surrounds himself with puppets.
John V needs to be run off for the companies productivity and profitability asap. His management style is detrimental to success and has zero team building or technical ability. High commodity prices are shielding inept managers.
