Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Act your wage

Stop putting in extra hours and working so hard. If you aren’t a HiPo with a sponsor there is no reason to.

Work life balance is one of my goals for this new year. I am one that overworks and tends to be stressed and frustrated. I am not a HiPo. I’ll be working my hours. I’ll be taking my breaks. I’ll be stopping and going home to my personal life.

Do as little as possible. F them. They don't care about you.
Record earnings, yet your health care costs increased
They cut your 401k
Work a 2nd job while taking their money
Golden parachute for those who have no compassion

In BR engineering I busted my tail and was spending 50-60 hours a week in order to make sure the sites were good to go for an audit. My toxic sls told me she didn’t care how many hours I spent. Hours worked had nothing to do with ranking. I worked because I cared and wanted to make a difference. Shortly after she said that I decided to leave that Thankless toxic environment.

One thing I learned. If you’re eager to overwork you WILL be taken advantage of. By bosses and co workers. The only way I could set boundaries was to leave and go to another company.

Agree but both ways.

Don’t overwork for your salary; you deserve a life outside of work.

Also don’t underwork for your salary; you usually just hurt your coworkers.

As unpopular as it is to say, there are people on both ends of the spectrum. I worry for the ones who overwork. I get annoyed by the ones who are coasting….and ultimately someone is picking up the pieces (and it is rarely management.)
