Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

This isn't working

When RTO was first announced, I thought I’d adjust after a while. That hasn’t really happened, and not just for me. A lot of people seem quieter, more frustrated, and less connected than before.

I’m in my early forties, and I’ve worked in enough places to know when the energy has shifted. This is one of those times. I don’t hate the job itself, but the current setup has made it much harder to stay motivated.

I’ve been browsing remote openings for the past couple of months. I’d rather find something that gives me a little more control over my day and doesn’t make work feel like such a drain.

@fk - you’ve made all the correct connections between in office and the local economy. However there is a tremendous amount of layoffs that will also impact the scenario as you’ve laid out. So it’s kind of like talking out of both sides of your mouth.

@ja Fraser doesn't even have to drive to officer neither does her private chauffeur. She has a fully furnished suite with a catered kitchen on the 39th floor of 388. If she wants to meet her directs, she only has to take the elevator down to the 38th floor. And if she needs to go meet someone else in NYC, she can take her black suited chauffeur driven private car. If she has to meet someone in some other city or go to the white house to meet the Prez etc.. She only has to take the trouble of going up to the 40th floor of 388 which has a helipad and a helicopter for her personal use. Whenever she wants to. If she has to fly international, she has her personal plane.

These people opine and sign off on policies that govern the Mon-Thu lines of us public transport taking plebs, who have to put meals on table and kids through school.

CEO Dimon had the nerve to say during Townhalls and live on TV that he comes in 5 days every week, do everyone else should !

Yeah, well if employees were making $43 Million MotherFvcken Dollars annually, they too will be extremely motivated to RTO 5 days per week!

Just like ALL C-Suite, Billionaires and even MDs/Directors, it's Not a realistic or fair expectation or comparison. They're soooo Out-of-Touch with the common employee/person!

Pay me even $1 Million annually, and I'll have the resources and motivation to RTO !

CEO Jane Fraser, Dimon, Solomon etc. most likely don't even drive themselves to the office! They have chauffeurs to do that!

@gd Fraser is sc-m, but Dimon by far is the most arrogant and out of touch with reality sc-mbag on Wall Street. Body language reeks of arrogance which he proves the moment he opens his stinky piehole for committing verbal diaorrhea. He's the epitome of the Marie Antoinette - eat cakes if you can't afford bread. Fraser is better behaved publicly and more aware/politially correct of what she says in public, though behind the scenes she's maybe only an inch less of a sc-mbag than Dimon

Yeah, CEO Dimon's total year 2025 compensation was $43 Million.

Give Each employee even $5 Million annual compensation/salary and Employers including $hittibank will see thousands of employees RTO 3 to 5 Days every week so Fvcken Fast, they'll need to build more office buildings!

Just like CEO Jamie Dimon of JPMC, the ONLY Svckers-AS$H0LES who just Love to RTO 3 to 5 days each week AND expect their employees to do the same are the ones making a $HIT Load of money off the backs of the employees and shareholders!

The Greedy C-Suite always Blood-Svcking every last U.S. $$$ out of employees and shareholders!

If I were making that type of Money, I too wouldn't mind RTO-ing.

I would be able to afford hired help for several Houses and Condos worldwide, groundskeeping, daycare, personal assistants, maids, butlers, cars, drivers who drive me to the office every day, etc. etc. etc..

At their (CEOs Dimon, Jane Fraser, etc.) compensation levels there's NO way in H3LL they don't have and employ hired help for their multiple homes they own worldwide and for their personal life!

@fk convert all those useless offices to condos is my reasonable suggestion. The day they announced 3 days in office I decided to push my retirement up 6 months. Handed my resignation in Jan 16th.

See ya su-kers (you especially). 30 yers at Citi? You’re a drone, easily led by your nose.

@f3 No, just a 30 year C vet who laughs at how ridiculously spoiled people are over remote work vs. in the office. It's simple - the cities that bring these massive companies and their massive campuses to their city through the form of HUGE tax breaks do so because of the massive amount of new SALES tax revenue that comes when a company relocates 14,000 people at a time (I'll use Wells recent move as an example.)
So, when you send 100% of your staff home for 2 years (multiply by dozens of other large campuses in the area) the cities and local businesses who rely on those workers spending money in their local shops, gas stations, restaurants, etc tend to not fair very well (or fold up entirely.) And, the cities that gave said companies hundreds of millions in tax breaks would like to recover some of that money.
So, you can bet your sweet a$$, that the city of Irving (just an example city with a dozen campuses for the top 10 banks) has some demands from these companies to bring their people back so the city can recover tax revenue through the commerce of having 100,000 people back at work spending money in their city.
IS that the only reason? No, of course not - but that is a huge driver that most people on these 'woe is me' forums completely miss.
It. is. ALWAYS. about the money - always.
Thumbs down all you want - it doesn't change the politics and economics of RTO.
Welcome back to 2010 people.

Oh now - the evil company paying your 6 figure salary and providing great benefits is making you go into the office? If you actually understand the economics of "why" RTO is a thing you wouldn't be belly aching about the horrible executive leadership. I get a laugh at how absolutely ridiculously spoiled some of the people are who post here about having to sit in an office and work. What you should be doing is making as much as you can as quick as you can for the next 5 years because your function is quickly coming to an end. You will be begging to come back into an office once the jobs are gone.

They remodeled our place and it’s all crowded, and people in meetings as if they’re doing a presentation to a whole auditorium, very loud. And nobody is respecting the booked seats! They should get rid of that because those of us following it have nowhere to seat. Our booked seat is taken and the empty seats show booked in the app.

I am as unproductive at home as I am in the office but nobody notices at 388. Make clicky noises every now and then to keep the screen alive. Or step offiine to read (and hope) for the latest here. Remarkable. Friday payday right?

Then you get the ones who are purely doing presenteisim. Look at me I’m in the office so busy. They give you dirty looks for going for a coffee yet they’re sitting there doing no work. They spend there days looking at bathroom taps and holidays, With their heads containing nothing more than a vacuum. Of course they’ve been promoted their heads are so far up there managers (MDs) ar-e they don’t know what way to turn to get out. Then there’s the ones who sit beside the site MD to kiss ar-e. They get them coffee, sausage rolls and tray bakes to soften them worship them get a promotion then they abandon them once they’ve got what they want that elusive promotion competent staff can’t get. It’s always the ar-e licks. I applaud them for playing a game most decent human beings wouldn’t stoop too. Management think we don’t see what’s going on, but they’re d-mber than a bag of bricks. Always approachable but with a habit of looking away or down at there feet when you walk past, because to them your a steaming lump of dog sh!te!!

I feel the same. I'm more productive at home and can't stand the people I work with, just a bunch of people pleasing twatwaffles that yell on zoom calls so we can all hear how important they are. The one thing I hope happens is that AI allows the majority of the business at my site goes away and they can shutter those operations, sending those of us that actually work all home. They did it in Roy, UT and those folks are loving it.

@OP read an article that coworkers trust Claude and ChatGPT more than the team which reduces collaboration even while in the office.

I have noticed that the ones "active and collaborating" in office are the political points scorers who suffered when fully remote. They cannot function without gossip sessions and fake busyness as they aren't actually good at their job. The rest of us, we just want to do our job and go home, we aren't here to play games have fake connections. Before, we used to pretend but now we just dgaf.

I actually watch and laugh to myself at these office lovers trying so hard!

Today I listened to two women complain for 1.5hrs about a coworker based in NAM. Super productive.
