I need you guys to set me straight or confirm what I'm seeing. Is audit currently a hellscape of poor management, training, consistency, and direction? I came from another bank knowing the red flags were visible but I literally cannot figure out what's going on from day to day, audit to audit. No one seems to know what's going on. People are generally nice and super smart but I feel like I'm in the twilight zone from audit to audit. I feel like I'm in the middle of the desert by myself most times. Am I just being overly critical here?

@jv SK and VW were senior audit managers on CSBB were let go too when AB was.
@jv All the RIFs have been a nice way of terminating them. They over hire, keep the favorites, and lay-off legacy people and people they do not like.
@jv There were more SAMs let go. Several on the risk audit team too. I do not know how they chose who to let go, I just know none were from USAA. I heard rumors it was based on performance but it seems more based on popularity with management.
I'm trying to figure out how they determine which positions to eliminate.
AB was a SAM and got let go last month and I just heard that L McC (Not CSBB, but in my office) was let go and she was only a senior auditor. Were they not cutting it and this was a "nice" way of terminating them, or were their positions truly eliminated?
@fg Yeah when he left I thought to myself why would someone making that kind of money in that position leave in this economy to supposedly start a new business? But I don't blame him.
The managing director on that team leaving in a year and a half to start a business tells you how bad it is.
It is not you, and it is not just that group, it is the entire department. It is a sinking ship and when people realize it they jump off and try to never look back. You are not alone in your perception.
There were so many ethics complaints for the CSBB audit team. Management on that team does a poor job. Many people leave quickly. Training is a problem too since no one knows what they are doing. Everyone I talked to felt like they were drowning and in the middle of the ocean alone.
You are not over critical. I left the CSBB audit team for another department. There are affable people but do not the illusion fool you. No one knows what they are doing. They knew what to do at their old bank but not here. It’s not you. It’s not lack of experience. It is not you. I promise you, it’s not you. There is no direction, constant change, and everyone is struggling.
