Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

ICYMI: Compensation and Talent Committee

Word through the grapevine is that this is a newly formed committee that makes the decision on whether or not to approve any positions and increases in compensation.

If your team needs a position, it has to go all the way up the approval chain and then be presented by the Chief of your organization to Drew Asher and whatever other finance people are in the committee...

Allegedly, it's now an "act of God" to get promotions and raises outside of moving internal positions. They want us to take on more work with even less people.

I see a lot of us leaving on our own accord if we make it through this mass layoff... I know for a fact I will be looking. I'm not about to ki-l myself over a job...

@bt Perhaps the people being snarky actually havent been in roles where this hasnt been true. I can absolutely say promotions have stalled greatly in the last 5 years. Moving teams is about the only way to get ahead, unless youre fighting to bug your PL at every turn for more and more work and hope it turns into a promo eventually, instead of just piling on more work til you burnout waiting.

OP here, my post had nothing to do with the VSP.

you can call it bullsh-t if you want and you can call it fear mongering, I'm simply relaying the message I received from my PL. maybe it doesn't work like that in your Org, but it does in mine.

The most recent email stated it was there intention to accept the VSP request. IMO implying it would be unusual if they did not accept

PL here. Lets not thow rumors out there. Not sure where your got that word but what is known is there is a vendor that is managing the VSP and results will filter to each state plan to senior leadership and each state leadership will determine the numbers of vsp accepts and targets for each line of business. From the the top, senior leaders will make final determination of the numbers and the make a determination of next round which will be unvoluntary which will happen! Dont freak out, prepare yourself and if your volume is strong and your workload meets contractual/business needs then you should be ok 👍

There is a team to determine if the role is needed. I was in the middle of interviewing during the hiring freeze and the recruiter informed me the position was paused as she needed to wait to hear from upper leadership if the position would be approved
