It doesn’t really matter because Nike is not a tech company, and that’s what they forgot along the way, hence the recent wipe of tech.

Nike is becoming an Indian-owned company. You would think that over 1 billion people would go ahead and buy Nike products to support this transition and support Nike's Indian tech workforce, especially as Americans are increasingly passing on Nike products and many Nike jobs are moving out of the U.S. This is an inevitable move, and no one can do anything to stop it. Indian tech workers love Nike, and Nike clearly loves investing in India. There is no point in fighting it. I just hope that the 1 billion people in India will start buying more Nike products to support Nike employing more Indian tech workers. I also hope that the Americans whose jobs have been displaced are able to transition into good opportunities elsewhere, allowing Nike to continue building the workforce in India, the workforce it has clearly chosen to invest in.

I feel that once the new IT center is built in India all North America jobs will be eliminated.

@b5 Is that before fully fleshed out and complete BRD along with a non-Indian cleaning up the 50-60% implementation done against the BRD?

Or after?

@af it's not just the pay, it's culture, benefits, remote work. it's the whole package. if you want to attract and keep talent then treat it well.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. There will always be big tech companies that can afford to pay more than Nike whether in the US or in India. That means it's an uphill battle for Nike to attract the best tech talent. In the US, the PHK campus and lack of alternatives in OR may still allow Nike to attract some top talent. I don't see the same working for Bangalore. Why wouldn't every Bangalore engineer pursue the highest pay when working for Nike is no different from working for any other company in the same city?

@a9 In my mind, I imagine every single one of those directors/VPs/C-suite people who decide to run this playbook talking to their peers over a round of golf like its some sort of innovative business idea. I then imagine them just laughing and talking about how being an MBA is so cool and like the formula - = is so revolutionary.

Corporate transformation roadmap:

  1. Replace 90% of experienced tech staff with lower-cost resources.
  2. Hand everyone an AI subscription and call it upskilling.
  3. Spend ten times the savings on tokens, licenses and consultants.
  4. Rebrand as a technology company.

Shareholder value unlocked.
