Why bother doing more than bare minimum?

The more diversity checkbox’s you can tic off, the more your bonus is.
Jelly of the month club?
I just ranked a 2 but the comp rewards are not released until next week for my team.
If the $ is not there, then for the future neither will I be.
Would you pay a bonus to someone that just does the bare minimum? Think about it. Probably why your disappointed. Sad. :(
Unionizing would level the playing field.
Yes the upper echelon are very well insulated against any downfall.
You can bet the bonuses of the top dogs in the company didn't take a hit, like everybody else's did. Remember, most of us are just a number to this stupid company. Do your job, no more, no less. This company is going nowhere, except down with this leadership group.
Citi is not a religion, its not a way of life, its not a cult, its not a mantra to live by.
You are an asset, nothing more, nothing less. If you produce profit, you are a valuable asset and get rewarded accordingly. If you are considered a cost center, “keep the lights on”, and DON’T produce a profit, then you are necessary evil that is barely tolerated.
Just like any other company. I don’t care what feel good message is delivered, this is the way that it is no matter where you go.
I see so many people under the cost center umbrella, especially new hires, who just work themselves to death. Volunteering left and right for everything all in hopes of a decent bonus all to end up getting 1K bonus, which after taxes is about 700$. If you divide that by 12 months, its like an extra 58$ per month. The new guys think its just bad timing so that give it another year on hopes of “it’ll be better next time” and the next year the same thing, 1K. Its usually at that point, they start scaling back a whole lot on extra projects and long hours. Mgmt then scratches their heads wondering as to why the lower performance, after all Citi should be your life.
That’s just sad.
Being in compliance, we were a cost center. We didnt make the bank money. Bonuses were about $1k amd merit pay went up maybe $2k. I will say the base salary was great for what we did, but there was little motivation to do better, unless tou wanted to kiss bu-t ans be buddy buddys with seniors or managers
A poor bonus just sets the tone going forward on how you work. Do just enough to keep from getting fired. Just do better than the lowest player on the team.
Good question. Its the American way. Drive yourself insane for pennies so someone else can get rich and look good. If you don’t comply you’re not a team player.
