Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Life After Verizon???

Of those who were RIFed in December 2025, how many have landed another position? Full-time, part-time or contract? How long did it take you? Cold application or networking?

Or, are you still career hunting? Frustrations and challenges? ATS, AI, etc.?

Or, if you are eligible to retire, did you?

Still looking. Ageism is real. In one interview the person said 3 times “wow, you have a lot of experience”… and this wasn’t said with respect or joy, but with shock. I feel too old to hire, but too young to retire.

6 months, but the interview process itself was 3+ months and managed to get into FAANG despite the odds. Keep it up everyone, yes ageism is real but that doesn't mean it's impossible out there.

Got a small business loan, bought a trailer and landscape equipment 16 months ago. Now making more than at Verizon, getting exercise, fresh air and getting fit. Life is good again.

use AI to customize cover letters and resumes to the job descriptions without lying. practice interviewing by yourself and memorize scripts you can repeat without having to continually thinking on the spot during interviews. recite scripts by yourself. spend 1 month practicing 5 days a week. every edge helps. you will be ready

I have had a few job interviews since being RIFd in December but I wasn’t hired unfortunately. I just keep pushing forward and know the job will come. The job market is very volatile for white collar jobs.

6 months. Applied for hundreds of jobs. Had to tailor every resume to get past the automatic AI rejections. Landed a few interviews and was rejected-ageism is real. 2 job offers 1 one was benefits paying $500/month with a
$7500 deductible!!! Another one - which I’m
Taking only because the benefits are even better than Verizon’s but the pay is nothing - benefits are the only thing making me take the job. It’s brutal. Never thought after 40 years I would be looking for a job. I should be in retirement mode but too young and need benefits. Start 7/13. Keep plugging along everyone!

Sent out about 70 resumes so far had 2 interviews. Still looking. Use ur time here to search and send out resumes now. It takes some time. But it feels good to know I’ll be looking in the rear view mirror soon. Here 17 years and it just keeps getting worse. I want to leave on my terms not theirs. Sinking ship

6 months. Not as lucrative but I wanted health insurance and something fun to do

For those wondering why ex employees are on this board. I spent very long time at VZ and I’m interested to see what is happening internally. It’s like watching a train wreck, you can’t look away.

Start a new position on Monday. Not easy out there Got the job through a recruiter LinkedIn and Indeed are a joke. Applied to well over 200 jobs. I did think things wouldn't loosen up in the job market until about May or June and was true for me

I miss it all. The purpose coin. The red chair. Offshoring American jobs for VGS. The game changing innovation with oath, go90 and blue jeans. The reorgs. The reorgs. The reorgs. And more reorgs! Our top tier leadership is the envy of all corporations. Grateful to be honored with my layoff and although this wasn’t what I hope for, I can’t wait for what’s next!

I managed to land a full-time job and started in March. I applied to over 80 jobs, landed 3 offers.

The ones that extended offers were all cold-applying.

@OP some of us are; however, not everyone in Verizon is a pathetic loser that gets let go and will return to this board to whine for an eternity. Normal people move on with their lives.....
