Is age a liability at Waters?

Is it just me, or does it seem that every time we had layoffs, those who were laid off skewed older? Most of the people I know who were affected are in their late 40s and above. It's starting to feel like once you turn a certain age, you immediately get a target put on your back.

The older reps had tremendous account knowledge and strong relationships but leadership does not care. When sales numbers drop people like SA and SC will wonder why. Stupid to lay off your senior reps who could have mentored the younger ones.

@m2 longer tenure does not mean higher wage.people only starting after probation are on the exact same wage as those 20 years plus.

higher age= longer tenure= higher wage= target for lower wage replacement

none of the other factors matter

I felt the same with the most recent Bioscience layoffs. So many people with 20+ years with the [BD] company. We lost a ton of legacy knowledge. Seeing so many people with 20+ years was inspiring at BDB. I wanted to build my career here just like them, but now it seems like just a liability.

They don't tell you who is impacted, so you have to piece it together over time. But I definitely felt that many, if not most, aged 40+ were targeted. Could there be any legal repercussions for that?

Nothing to do with age more how long your there.long term employees with a few exceptions are dossers and deserve to go.young and enthusiastic is the future for us.
