Inventory readiness

How is everyone feeling about inventory? I’ve been literally working myself to death for the last 3 weeks getting stockrooms ready, and I just pray that I make it through 5 consecutive overnights. I am running out of steam at this point. Scared for the floor though because recovery is awful.

AST usually just manages the Control Desk and runs the administrative part of inventory. They don’t help with any prep or colleague training. I’m not sure how Herald Square works since they’re such a massive store. It’s pretty easy to do, it’s just a lot of paperwork to stay on top of.

Seasonals are technically on the payroll until January 28

Yikes! How would they not finish inventory? Don’t you have to close out before you leave? UPC Rejects and Retickets in Backstage were ridiculous! And the Honeywells were not picking up a lot of the actual barcodes. Some stores in my division were not done until noon! We still have retickets everywhere. RTW is going to be a long night. Ugh…

Our first night of inventory was awful! They never finished it!
The store is a mess!
There isn't enough people to scan!
Re-tickets are out of control!
Support (was the hardest working team in store) usually preps everything, well thanks to ISM there is no support team so no one was prepping floors or stockrooms. And Back of House didn't help with anything like they used to.
Every year you think it can't be as bad as last year, but it's so much worse!

So the seasonal’s will get screwed out of the premium inventory pay. The chances of the seasonal’s being on the payroll the end of January are slim to none.
Typical Macy’s they dangle the carrot to get people to work and then pull the rug out from them and not make good on their promises.
Doesn’t matter if it is two dollars or five dollars it is deceitful to put a memo out like that knowing that the company will not be obligated to pay the premium out.

If the inventory process is so important for profitability, why do they do the following: hold a ODS during the inventory process, deliver a truck on the day of stock room inventories, move inventory closer to the new year, every year. Would one weekend without a sale posture destroy volume? Push inventory into week 2 allowing more time to prep the floors, and require colleagues to work the inventory in their areas...wait we have integrated selling. Never mind!

That’s not true. Seasonals weren’t offered the 5.00 premium. It is only for full and part time employees. I do believe they later offered seasonal 2.00 extra an hour if they will work though. And yes it still gets paid at the end of the month if you’re still employed.

The seasonal employees should be aware that the the company has promised to pay a premium of five dollars an hour for overnight inventory.
What they haven’t told you is that you need to be employed with the company on January 27th in order to receive the premium pay. It is in the small print of the email that that they had you sign.
As soon as inventory is over next week a majority of the seasonal employees will be laid off. That happens every year. Macy’s in turn will not be obligated to pay you the premium rate that they have promised.
This unethical move is typical of this organization.

I was a seasonal employee that I thought was done after Christmas, got a call today asking if I could work inventory, but I can't work those overnight 9 hour shifts so I hope they're okay with fewer hours...
