Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

I hate EJ

I despise it. And to think there was a time when I liked my job and I was proud to be working here. They've completely destroyed a once great company to the point that most employees are looking for a way out. I never thought I'd be the one saying it, but I truly hate this place.

@sj we are becoming a cheap knock off of wells fargo, with less pay...and the dummies in charge think this is how you win in 2026. Unbelievable the amount of low iq decision making happening at this place now. Maybe it will be best if we go public and have some sort of accountability with shareholders VS the pyramid scheme we have now

It’s always been a feudalistic enterprise with notoriously below-market compensation, benefits, and time-off packages. There’s a well-worn path of ambitious young people going there just to get licensed before departing after a couple years. Otherwise, it’s kept a certain type of comfort-seeking people aboard by being a relatively pleasant, stable place to be. Now that it’s dispensed with the niceties, I don’t know what it has to sell to prospective employees anymore. It can expect a mediocre, unstable workforce in the years to come.

@OP I'm still amazed at how disconnected the GPs are who beebop around the cube farms hoping we notice them. Are they hall monitors now with how they are always looking around and checking for "something" but nobody knows what? It is such odd behavior. Everyone sitting around me looks like they are at a funeral with ear buds in. The highlight of everyone's day is eating lunch or logging off knowing they get a short break from this dystopian sh+tbox. We all log off and walk out to the garage as if we are being let out of prison, only to see the cluster F of cars already piled up in traffic waiting for us. Your short term happiness then turns to rage because you know the 8hrs of work you just did could have been done from home in the peace and quiet. You sit in traffic hoping some a--clown doesn't plow into the back of your car or a semi cuts you off and turns your car into something that looks like a crushed soda can set on fire. But don't worry, if you die, leadership will quickly replace you with 3 dudes over in india who will eff up all the work and your US based coworkers can spend their day answering the same questions over and over, or fixing the countless errors made. The cheap labor is good though, it helps PP afford those 10k bottles of wine and wardrobe choices that are a cross between circus clown and escaped mental patient. #bettertogether #culture

@gq Not only the culture, the morale at home office has hit rock bottom and people like S. mcdummy and DC think this is a good thing AND that they are doing a great job. The numbers are constantly being fudged, avoided, or paired with an AI slop message that deflects the blame. The treasury is being plundered left and right on stupid photo op BS, 1990s marketing strategy, and large payouts to the very people destroying this place. Main street has been given the finger, the US worker has been sold down the river, and the wall street bros still laugh at PP while she follows every terrible move every other big firm rolls out. The circus music is the only thing missing from this toxic ice cold sh!tbox when I walk through the rotating door every morning.

Is this what AG Edwards employees felt like when Wells Fargo took over? Culture gone, over work, under pay, babysit employees, outsource to India, be like everyone else, maximize profits. All this without selling the company, impressive.

@b8 ,what makes you think the "unemployed" are qualified and will be hired on?

@b8 Ah Yes, let's try not to address this toxic sh!thole that PP and her ELT flunkies have created that have caused record numbers of FA to leave and morale at HQ hit rock bottom. Yes! let's have our tenured knowledge walk out that door and join the competition while we backfill their positions with contractors from india. Or, best case scenario spend time and money training a job hopper who is going to jump ship at the first change they can after they see this CULTure for what it is. A giant pyramid scheme that is being bled dry by greedy sociopaths. You must be ELT or a GP, because you have the iq of a potato.

Please quit so that one of the many unemployed can take your position.

This company has sold out to money and profits. It was inevitable but we are here. PP has destroyed what Ted created. Culture totally gone under her reign. We will be like everyone else, maximize revenue and profits, and treat employees as disposable overhead resources. If you stay here, just remember to look out for yourself. ELT and HR will treat you like a number and terminate you when it suits them. Be open to opportunities outside EJ when they arise so you don’t get blindsided.

I hate this place now too. And it su-ks because I like so many people that I work with (and worked with before layoffs).

The ELT is callously gutting this place while lying to our faces the whole time. Shame on them for still clinging to “Ted’s legacy” as if that gives them a pass for these asinine decisions. He would have fired the lot of them.

Money wasn’t Ted’s god; can the ELT say the same? Nevermind, we already know the answer.
