Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon New Jersey just hit 50k

In New Jersey they have reached 50k double wood poles that they need to transfer and remove. Some over 9 years old. The state is looking at setting fines for any over 90 days for safety reasons and to make money. Verizon's reason is they don't have enough crews to handle it. In reality it has to be done with expense dollars which they don't want to spend.

@d1 Probably because if they are not doing work that is out there, they don’t need as many employees. So they can contract that work out. And as much as the union says they have a no layoff clause in the contract , there are many hired under a different criteria that can be let go. Union sold their future members out in the early 2000’s contract.

@OP Verizon should 100% balk at any of this work because it is a NJ state issue. Sh-t NJ. Go to he-l NJ. Verizon does not need to spend any of its shareholder's stock money. Fu-k NJ!!!

@a7 LOL. Go back and look at any BPU fines Vz has paid since being headquartered in Basking Ridge. Data is available. Hint. Closer to 0 that it is to 1000.

The power companies use contractors to set a lot of their poles. They have done major upgrades throughout the state with government money. Some of it going all the way back to Sandy.

@OP The BPU won’t do anything to Verizon in NJ. Has to do with that big office real estate in Basking Ridge.
