It's for security reasons also that they want people to stay home.

My store is divesting and we still haven’t been told, but I’m sure there will be a call during working hours, d-mb process for sure

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but no matter what the company does, it would feel unacceptable and cruel. If they weren't told to stay home and employees had to experience those emotions in the presence of their colleagues, that would feel worse to me. There's not a perfect way for people to experience layoffs. We actually do it significantly better than many other companies. Many of my friends have been laid off from various companies and either found out from a generic email, or worse, couldn't log in to their computer one day.

They don’t want people crying at the office. It will make moral even worse.
