This chick has this pre-recorded call at 8am with an email to get on this call at 745. Pre-recorded and just sounding so heartless and then click, call over in 5 minutes. 2 decades I've given to this company and it's all gone. No, thank you for everything you've done over the years, personalized by anyone. Just a default message like it's a voicemail. This fu--ing company has become so heartless.

Corporations are in business to make profits. They are not altruistic and treat employees like line items. I hope you learn from this and be as loyal to your new job as much as your future employer is loyal to you.
@OP Rule number 1 - The company you work for has NO loyalty to you. Rule number 2 - You have no loyalty to the company. Rule number 3 - You can leave the company whenever you wish and the company can part ways with you whenever the company wishes.
Those are the 3 rules while working for a company. I learned that lesson 30 years ago and now you have learned that very same lesson! It took 1 layoff to learn that hard lesson and I have never been laid off since because of the 3 rules I just stated.
@OP Sadly thats a management choice. I lost an employee but my manager called and gave her a direct 1 on 1 call. If you are getting recording then you had an especially sh---y upper management, and I am sorry for that and for you having to deal with any of this!
Its a tough market but the thing i hear from other affected through previous layoffs, roughly say the same thing, Verizon fortunately trained us to be valuable everywhere in a lot of ways. Doesn't help with this current market much and I know it probably feels like just words right now. Hang in there, again sorry you and anyone else reading this who might be affected that this has happened to you.
@a1 yeah no sh-t. Just the point di-k head
@a1 Absolutely this.
Yes, Verizon su-ks, but staying loyal to a company and believing it owes you anything beyond your contractually-obligated pay and benefits is beyond stupid.
Do honest work, put in your 40 hours, and go live your life. Every company will drop you in a heartbeat if it helps out the shareholders in anyway. Don’t be a su---r.
Some have given 20 years, some maybe just a couple….regardless, telling people by a recorded message that they lost their jobs is just plain sh---y. Makes the script reading I got in November not seem so bad.
company doesnt owe u nothing
u dont owe the compant nothing
they were never ur friends, if u believe otherwise, i have a bridge to sell u
