Why didn’t severance paychecks go out today? It’s a payday, isn’t it? Anyone else have this issue?

I work for another company and expected a severance check that was a no show.
The check was mailed December 20 and it was delivered around January 5.
The question was valid. The answer…a simple one. The 53rd week in 2022. You got paid on last Friday.
Those whining and suggesting a violation of severance agreements are helping justify even more why you were cut because you seem more emotional and reactionary rather than seeking to understand details.
If you check your bank account you will see you got a half check due to the extra week this year! After that we go back on cycle as usual, nothing sinister going on here!!
Yes, there were 53 weeks in 2022 so we received a one week payment on 12/30. Next payday is 1/13.
Yes - not in good faith. Especially with rents and mortgages due. How was payroll impacted by the layoffs?
2022 had 53 weeks hence there was one additional paycheck on 12/23. So now two weeks will be 1/13. Maybe that's the reason.
Same - waiting on an update from HR.
Didn’t receive mine. Isn’t this in violation of our severance agreement. Seems potentially injurious.
