Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Was it a 1 on 1 that turned into a surprise meeting with HR?

How did you find out that you were being laid off? Mine was scheduled during my normal one on one time, but with a surprise variant, a meeting room was booked in the office. When I got there, you know who wasn't there? My manager. He was remote.....but booked a meeting room in the office. Ok. You know who was there? Some long faced lady from HR that looked like Droopy. You know what we never had, my actual one on one. Imagine spending time gathering feedback, requesting it, people writing it, all for you never to see it and get laid off. I'd heard they do funny things around twenty years, sure enough, right before twenty they do some bullsh-t.

Did you not attend the global meeting on the 13th? Random 8 am EST meeting for product engineering? ~500 people being told they are being RIF'd. If you did attend, did you get let go separately?

@a8 Definitely did not. That would have been a give away and made it not a one on one. Apparently HR had other plans. Hahaha. Then the farewell message sent by the manager, HR says not to include the person being talked about who just got the shaft. So the person never actually sees the message, they just get a barrage of messages about them leaving. You can't make this up.
