Thread regarding Big Lots Inc. layoffs

Market leaders will be cut, Region managers will remain.

Market leaders will be cut from the field team in April 2023. (Redundant position)

Region Managers will remain and take over as new combined role.

How did you get information that Market Managers would be let go?

If you are an ATLS I would not bank on your job being secure. The company is in financial dire straits, I’m sure the 500 person job elimination last week was not the end of it.

As for the furniture leads, you can tell the customer that they need to bring help to load their furniture . Furniture associates are there to HELP them load not load for them.

I am one of two ASM's in my store. I was told that our store will still keep both positions due to its high sales volume. Is that true or will it be down to one within the next few months?

I couldn't agree with you more about needing more associates, especially in the furniture department. I used to be the FSL and then the ASMM, and then the ASMS. The injuries that happen in that place and the wear and tear on your body is INSANE. I've had to have surgery due to an injury in the furniture department a to few years ago and I have terrible back problems now. After years of working with for them and unrepairable damage to my body, my thanks for a job well done was getting laid off last week. :)
My advice: get out before you wear yourself out. You are just a disposable nobody to them. They do NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.

I personally find it funny that people will show up on the wettest, coldest, nastiest day with an undersized, rusted out trailer with half-flat tires and nothing between the rusted mesh bottom and the wet road-- stand back and watch one associate faff about tipping and cramming giant sectionals and full sized bedroom sets (or heavy gazebos OR the grand fireplace that always breaks itself in the over-long box!) onto those spring wagons (not even a surrey with the fringe on top!) and THEN-- have the nerve to complain that the plastic shipping wrap isn't completely intact, a corner cardboard piece looks ding-ed, and that the pieces are going to get wet and why can't we tie the stuff down and provide tarps so they can get their only-partially-funded, layaway-style leased presswood furniture back to their hovel, anyway. Or, keep fussing about not having someone to assemble the fake-wood gazebo for them.

Wonder how they act when they go to Ollie's?!! Lulz!!

Market leaders were never needed in the 1st place. What we DO need is more Furniture hours to have more than one associate available to lift the 300 lb. sectionals and gazebos. Injuries are being swept under the rug from lifting these nutbusters. Bruce only cares about the stockholders and doesn't give a rat's as_ about our well being. He is the epitome of corporate greed!
