Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Does Verizon have a policy on hiring their own retires? I was wondering if I could go back for a few years.

I see my old job posted and thinking I might like to apply. I retired last year. Thanks

I just applied for lots of COT jobs and every single one passed me by. 26 years experience. Retired young with the buyout in 2009. Had one interview in Emporia and then got rejected.

Why on earth would you want to go back? Into self-torture? Nothing has gotten better at VZ over the last few years...stay away.

I would apply and then reach out to your former boss /someone else who is still there, to check in w the hiring manager. they could allow a rehire, but also good to have someone talking to the recruiter for you, so the application doesn't get lost.

Please learn to be patient, it's a virtue.
Verizon is and has been using rif's to dump the dodo birds otherwise known as ringers.
In the process there have been some isolated cases where good quality, productive employees were inadvertently let go. We invite you to re-apply for employment with Verizon. We will evaluate your prior employment history, including your performance reviews. If you pass muster, rest assured you will be rehired. We will offer you a salary comparable to the amount you were making when terminated plus 10%. The sooner you re-apply the better.

On the Wireless side they have re- hired Switch Techs who left back before. Don't know why they wouldn't consider rehiring a good C.O. Tech.
Apply already!

Rehire policy says you have to be gone for 6 months. If you retired more than 6 months ago, they can hire you back.

Are you qualified? Just because you held this title before, means nothing.

Where you been man? We've been trying to get in touch with you. After you left VZ, we found out that we can't get along without you. We are prepared to offer you an enhanced package to bring you back. If this package is not acceptable to you. We are more than willing to negotiate. We just want you back!

Sorry to disappoint the haters but I liked my job as a COT. Put food on my table for 30 years and gave me 3 quarters of a million dollar to leave. I know there is a lot of bs with this company but I managed. Very little college, but worked hard and I am proud of what I accomplished, regardless of what the big wigs throw at us. I actually miss it and could use the extra $$$

If you took VSP no, otherwise yes but not likely. You got nothing to lose except time and pride.
