The goal seems to be getting input from workers about the move from ICE to EV, the impact on your career, etc.

The NYT is a biased joke of a newspaper. I would not send them anything because they will take the information and put their own spin on it.

Toyota has got a lots of bad press for dragging its feet to the BEV race. There is no reason to be first as good engineering and quality will prevail in the end.
