Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Feb 16 has high chance of being the day

It aligns well with the schedule and required notice before end of Q1. It allows for comms on 2022 to be completed for all impacted parties. Org announcements delayed until after that date apparently furthering strengthening that day as the day. I just wonder if this is only at the VP level or are Directors in the know. Anyway, good luck to all.

They announced the closure of the Hilliard BGCO the first week of February back in 2020. Seems like the go-to week to do the cuts. We were told when we were impacted that it was scheduled to coincide with STI payouts to soften the employee impact.

Crossing my fingers.
25 years are enough, but I'm not leaving without a package.

“ Keep guessing and eventually you might get it right.”

“ In a month, people will be posting April 30th is definitely. But hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day.”

Verizon has layoffs at least once per year if not twice per year like clockwork. This is not a guess, it’s a guarantee. Hans has driven this company into the ground. If you think you’re safe because you work hard or you’re in a specific group, you’re wrong. Verizon is a major corporation that cares about the bottom line, not its’ employees. Layoffs are now done by a third party and HR. Don’t be fooled, you are a number to this company on a spreadsheet, not a person. Use Verizon to go to school or finish your degree. Build up your LinkedIn page and always have an updated resume. Have an emergency savings account in case you are without a job for a bit. Large corporations are the same, they are loyal to their shareholders, not their employees. Be dedicated and loyal to improving yourself instead of a corporation.

I’m just glad they can’t touch the GNT groups.

2/10 was the big day last year, at least for all the new OP&OO reorg stuff. I was impacted and a week later was getting my comp sheet (which stunk because it was like a carrot dangling in front of me in terms of what would be no more). My director said she didn’t have any clue of who would be impacted. Things have seemed eerily quiet this week…has me nervous.

They could just so every payperiod. Keep them small and focussed. As VGS goes through team with a fine tooth comb knock people out right then and there why gather them all up for a big rif?

Conjecture. Org changes (if any) are delayed to allow for current mgt to relay BPI an STI - else it creates a mess later. If there is one, only Directors and above know the final answer. Managers won't know the final answer until the week of.

Conjecture? I think so!

Since 2/2 wasn’t a major layoff day (I know there were some), 2/16 has to be the day. I’m sure no one will have solid info as to how big or who will be impacted until Monday or Tuesday of next week. So IF, next Thursday is the day, enjoy this last week of quiet before the games (musical chairs) begin
