GSSO Specialists Layoffs and More Coming

The layoffs across GSSO last week is being spun as investment. More GSSO layoffs are coming at end of this FY as the additional headcount that is being added will not provide the revenue needed to justify those additional sellers. This is by design so they can layoff more. They could not layoff everyone they wanted to at one time so it is being done in 2 phases.

TSAs were let go and those specialists TSAs left are under the GSSO Americas Systems Engineering Director. This is not good based on the morale of those TSAs under his inept leadership already. He only wants to pool TSAs. The TSAs do not make any money and they don’t want to be in that org which is why there has been very high attrition under him. I have reached out to many of the TSAs under him and they have stated he wants to pool the TSAs. They see it coming. As many other have said before, DO NOT TRUST that SED.

My previous manager before last week told me to start looking for other roles at other companies as it is not good to be in that SED’s org as he is trying to push the specialists TSAs to be platform TSAs quickly.

So he wants to push all the specialists to platform TSAs then he can pool all of us.

Many of us do not want to be under him and do not want to be responsible for every solution. There is many that will be leaving this summer based on this direction.

What are the best competitors to look at.

Look at the 2 hires that SED made. He gets a TSA to himself that came from EN and he hired a SSEM from direct side with no security leadership experience. You will never ever get a fair chance with that SED.

To answer the original question, since you are a TSA in GSSO then you are looking at a pre-sales engineer role. Many good security companies out there. You should also look and ask to speak with the pre-sales engineering leadership beyond the hiring manager. The last thing you want to do is have another SED like the one referenced in this post. Do your homework also and ask around. Word of good and excellent leaders does spread and become common knowledge in this industry. Those type of leaders are not afraid to challenge the status quo. Everyone wants to work for them cause they take care of their people and fight for them.

Bad and awful leaders like the SED referenced here spreads like Wildfire. Everyone is fleeing from those leaders. The SED you have now is just awful. It starts with way he treats people and being power hungry. He does not listen. He is going to push the remaining specialists to the front lines when they are not ready to own the entire product set. Another disaster of his waiting to happen. Grab your popcorn and watch. Everyone knows why he was hired. It was only due to him agreeing to the VP of SE org to push that pooled disaster that has lost more business than it has won.

There are great opportunities out there.

I will grant that the security products all suck, but we also have very low caliber specialists. If they were any good they’d be at another company.
