Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Lost our jobs to Manila

Today I lost my job at Chase. I have worked for Chase for 15 years. I've done many things for the firm from Lost mitigation short sales home equity and first mortgage. I trained the people in Manila to do my job and now they are taking it over. My hope is that this will open the eyes of the American people not to do business with JPMorgan Chase any longer as they are not in American company they do not care about the American worker!

Not just Chase. Boeing just announced that they are Laying off their whole HR function here and that it is being subbed out to the great TATA in India. Not to fear however as they are hiring 1200 new engineers. Let me see, HR now in India and Indian Tech company in charge of hiring.

I left Chase a few years ago when my department had a meeting with Billy Manili who asked the Collateral Underwriters to train staff in Manila. I got up and left the meeting and told them training was not a part of my job description. My coworkers all went along with it. I'm at a smaller lender now and much happier.

I've seen it coming for years. Slowly jobs have been moving overseas because the workforce is cheaper. No one stole jobs, Chase is just looking to save money. And it's unfortunate. Moving jobs along with cutting corners is going to hurt Chase long term, in my opinion, I'm just waiting for it to happen

I find it funny that only when people lose their position at Chase that they consider Chase a terrible company. I also worked at Chase for 15 years and was finally laid off. However after working there for 2 years I realized that Chase was a horrible company to work for. I worked in IT and those are the first positions to go overseas. At one point it appeared every new position I got they started laying off people about a year later. I watched people get laid off every 3 to 6 months for 8 years before I finally got laid off. Yes I tried to leave Chase for years and could never find the right position. I was lost a few months trying to figure out what to do. A former coworker who was laid off years before me told me "listen tou might not see it yet but Chase did you a favor". He was right. I went back to school got some certifications to go with my Bachelor and Master degrees I already had. I found a better position with a 30k pay increase, less stress and I am much happier. So I will tell you tell you the same thing. Chase did you a favor laying you off, there are much better positions out there.

You people are seriously delusional, most of Home Lending was working an hour a day at best with the complete collapse of refinancing and purchasing. It has nothing to do with Manila or India and everything to do with volumes. This happens every spike in interest rates.

It's all about the money. Labor costs are way way lower in Manila.

Let’s not blame the folks from overseas. They didn’t steal our jobs. Chase gave them our jobs, thus it’s not considered stealing. I agree with confidential information being processed in Manila and Mumbai is not advertised to the public and do not agree with Chase’s practice. Not happy with the happenings in the industry Chase does have a great severance package compared to other companies.

Final note, it’s crazy how they were giving retention bonuses a few years ago and now we’re worthless.

When I read the promotion list of all those names, that is the one thing I did notice.

I was told today, that my position in Mortgage at Chase will be "eliminated". Fortunately, the recent promotions of Chase Manila employees to higher or equivalent job titles to U.S. Chase employees will save the bank a couple of bucks, and allow their profits to continue. Over 75% of the "January Promotions" at Chase Mortgage were for workers in Manila. Was that the writing on the wall?

If the average American knew that their complete financial history, ie credit, asset, income, ID was being reviewed by someone making 3 dollars an hour outside of the US and not a citizen of the US, would they actually do business with Chase?
