Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Should we worry about store closings?

With all the layoffs going around, is there any chance that some stores will be put on the chopping block? I usually wouldn't worry since my location is doing well if not great, but all the things that have been happening in the last few months have increased my paranoia levels significantly.

We have a tm that gets "sick" every 3 or 4 months to take a vacation. For all the times this tm has been "sick" over the years why is she even allowed to come into the store. Isnt food safety important. Nothing ever happens to this tm because she's one of the leadership favorites.

Watch the cameras for tms who change labels to extend shelf life and not caring about food safety.
Also the tms who abuse/ play around time and attendance.

They need the extra ASTL's to watch TM's on camera to try and get dirt on everyone to fire them so they won't have to offer severance packages when stores close and jobs a re consolidated. Project Sriracha means that most stores grocery teams will only operate with 2 buyers. Most stores have 4 currently. That means 2 per store will be demoted, moved or have to quit. They say the buyers will be able to keep their same pay but I'm pretty sure they will be pushing some of them out the door. They do not want to pay all that money on severance like they did last time buyers were laid off.

And yet they keep adding extra ASTL's to stores that we don't need. We have 3 ASTL's at our store but could use 1 less and use the labor dollars for workers instead of STL kiss a$$es. They walk around and point out a missing sign when they could print the d*mn sign for us and then jump in and help us work. Total waste of money.

If you look at sales and how long the stores that closed were open, there are several stores just in my region within literally $2k sales of the stores that closed. They are next. Also these stores are clearing out old high paying TM's like crazy. We lost 3 ATL's, STL, 2 ASTL's, 3 or 4 TL's etc. within a year. They are watching several TM's all day on camera.

I'll believe it when I see it.They are just cutting blabor to see how barebones locations can run and still make money with the store looking somewhat acceptable.

They are running shorthanded but also somehow ridiculously over labor budget, and yes, more stores will close.

What layoffs have happened at WF? Most stores are running shorthanded as it is.
