Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

agile layoffs

The reality of the agile layoffs is sinkng in and teams are scambing to fill the void of the ADLs. They want team members to improvise and close the gap of what the ADLs did. It's their company they should figure that out.

For the ADLs look outside they made up their minds and not looking to rehire anyone. It would mean they didn't think it through and wouldn't want to admit it. Then there is the stack rankings and it's good when it works for you but a nightmare when it works against you.

An exec said that c1 is looking to license chatgpt for internal use. They're thinking of using it to automate and replace humans. What happened to internal efforts for machine learning? Oh right it went no where and was a waste of time. These execs are d-mb people.

On top of the harassment created by the twice yearly stack rankings. We have to deal with completely unqualified execs who don't know what the f*** they're doing.

I asked chatGPT is Crum Masters are redundant the answer AI gave me was “ No, scrum masters are not redundant. In fact, they play a critical role in ensuring the success of scrum projects. A scrum master is responsible for facilitating the scrum process, removing obstacles that prevent the team from delivering work, and coaching the team and other stakeholders on the scrum framework. They also help the team maintain a focus on delivering value and continuously improving their process. The scrum master acts as a servant leader, working to create an environment in which the team can be successful.

That being said, the role of the scrum master is evolving, and it may look different in different organizations or projects. Some organizations may choose to have fewer scrum masters, while others may opt for more. Ultimately, the need for scrum masters will depend on the specific needs of the team and the organization. However, in general, the role of the scrum master is seen as an essential part of successful scrum projects.”. So please feel good, C1 will realize the good work that agilist were doing, it is very easy to destroy but takes time to build.

So far the product managers I've worked with are not stepping up to take up where the ADLs left off. The ADLs did a lot of various things to keep it together. Product managers were supposed to be the direct replacement of ADLs based on the layoff messages teams have been sent. Recently, an EVP stated that ADLs are to be replaced by Technical Program Managers instead, who are software developers who can fix code. And they want to hire more technical program managers from the outside. This is crazy because deveopers who fix code don't want to do create and track stories. Developers want to be driven and just focus on building software not drive and build at the same time.

Really what happened to the use of product managers again? I have a theory. When they originally planned the layoffs they did identify the product managers as the replacements but as layoffs occurred they realized they still needed project managers as that's what the ADLs were essentially. It was too late to stop the layoffs. So now they're thinking of hiring project managers again but those who can drive and build at the same time. As I already stated developers don't want to drive and track period, it's a headache and a step down.

As you see it's a road to nowhere and Rich Fairbanks, Frank Laprade, Rob Alexander, and all their minions need to be fired. Be a bank and not a startup posing as AWS.

Yes, I agree the engineers and Product Managers are filling in, this is taking their time away from their work and also stressing them out, I see daily stand ups and other ceremonies being cancelled, team members are clueless it is a messs that they have created. But they will not accept they are hiring more Director level TPMs, I wonder if these people will do the work that ADLs were doing, these TPMs will further stress the engineers and Product Manager, just wait the good people willl start quitting.
