Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

FPWA is a train wreck

All the different structural changes and market changes have leadership running around with their heads cut off. I’m getting conflicted feedback from every single person in leadership on how to progress in this organization. They won’t promote me but yet trust me to train coworkers because team leaders are too busy having pointless meetings that could have been an e-mail? Not too mention a lot of our managed offerings are garbage.

You have to make your boss AND your boss's boss like you. Boss puts your name in for EP/promotion, boss's boss approves or rejects it.

There's good guides on how to make people like you and unfortunately none of them involve knowing how to do your job. State of the world it seems

It’s the same in many business units. Fidelity is lost due to too many inexperienced and just plain stupid people being placed in leadership positions.
