Ridiculous Baton Rouge Managers

As an experienced hire into the chemical plant, this journey has been more than just painful. Every nerve of my body regrets why i left my old job to come here and be doubted on my abilities, being questioned on my credibility. This place is a joke, the whole technical department is a joke. One DH can just feel something and that becomes or is rather forced into everyone's perception including my supervisor who has no say of their own. DHs who i never understood what they do, except for being mean, rude and a pain in the behind. For all who want to work here, think before you quit a good job for money. Its never enough to compensate for deteriorating mental health.

That is the problem one disgruntled retiree keeps on talking about the same person again and again. This prevents others to shine light on issues within Mechanical, Engineering and Technical in BRCP.

Well if I’ve learned one thing from reading this it’s that BR is a pretty good place to be unless you work for that one SLS that keeps getting mentioned who must be a machinery engineering supervisor?

Anything else and you’re all good, things are great.

Poor leadership is building a great team and doing everything you can to hold onto control and taking credit for their work. No leader can build and sustain a great company without trust. So many times I’ve seen our supervisor to both. She’s a piece of work. The very first thing she eliminated was trust. How are people like this still employed here and on top of that assigned as a supervisor. Everything she touches goes south. Everyone that has every worked for her has the same experience.

@@3zj I believe you are correct! Never thought of that rationale but that sounds about right.

I don’t think it’s so much that they mistrust us but more specifically they want to make a change be it right or wrong so they can add it to their pds and then run back to the DH with a scalp ranting look at me boss. I’m worth something or discuss it in one of the clown discussions. Absolutely useless and thats the really sad part.

The culture of distrust permeates the entire company. We spend millions of dollars on consultants because management never trusts that we know what we are doing - especially if you are an experienced hire. It's ludicrous.

If you haven’t worked for this sls then you have no idea what you’re talking about! No way it can be worse than BR

Exxon needs to cut those middle managers like useless DHs, tech companies are starting to do this, once wall street accepts this as the meta then companies like XOM will follow suit

The new dh in chemicals is a vast improvement over the philosophy king. I’ve known her for years and she’s solid. I agree that your sls is likely lying and playing games. If it’s the one I think you’re describing ,that’s her mode of operations. Lie, cheat and do whatever she can to get her way.

If you can’t deal with waiting her out get out. No job is worth dealing with the mental games.

I worked in Spring, but had the same experience as an external hire. I am at the top of my field but was subjected to all the behaviors you described. This is not with one manager, but with many that only confirms to the latest craze. Anything other than what they want to hear is buried. The gaslighting and mental abuse is not worth it. I resigned and is in a much better place.

DH’s are like kings or queens. They are untouchable so they become very arrogant and no matter how ignorant or out of touch they are, the sls follow them around like puppies and celebrate every word of perceived wisdom that spews out of their mouth lest they lose favor with the king. Now the Sls telling you it’s the DH perception is more than likely a lie. It’s very easy to use the dh as a fall person to achieve the goal. If I were you I would go to the dh in order to make sure they feel the way your sls described and if it is true then ask them why they feel that way. More than likely you sls is playing political games

You are exactly right. Between my toxic sls and the DH that she had under her spell of lies and doing his work for him, I couldn’t take it anymore and left. I was having a lot of health issues that suddenly disappeared after I left. That place has gone to he-l. Get out if you can. Sounds like the same sls I had. I’m guessing your at brcp
