Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Grass is greener on other side

If you work for IBM and are not ready to retire, you should start looking for jobs while still employed. You will not receive decent raises unless the company starts making money. I was laid off during Covid in June 2020. It was the best thing IBM dId for me. It took me 9 months to find job during Covid and yes I took a pay cut because I needed a job with insurance, but this new company appreciates the employees and the raises and annual bonuses are paid out. In 2 years I increased my salary by $15K and received bonuses/variable pay avg/year of $8k. Stress level decreased as I am not constantly looking over shoulder wondering if I am next on layoff list! The grass is greener!

Anyone know if you are put on a PIP if you can choose to retire instead. Weighing pros & cons.

I retired in 2020. I could no longer work for my cheating, lying VP. The guy had NO conscience. It was all about making his numbers to get his bonuses at the expense of my client base. FU-K him!

It’s not like there’s tons of jobs out there. Will take my package and search after. I need vacations!
