After a long time here, I've finally started thinking how good it would be if I wasn't here anymore.
When did you first seriously start having thoughts about leaving here and looking for a new job?

16 year sts now in scs... New management structure since taking over tda has been cr-p. No longer a place of caring about you as a person, down to all this "Agile" bs which is just a way to micro manage every detail. Management really doesn't care about us anymore. Layoffs happened last week without a peep. And now spending is tightening and asking managers to do more with less headcount then they have today has layoffs writen between the lines there. So more layoffs to come and this is why I chose not to WFH post covid. Anyone asked for approved... But I've been here since end of 06. Anytime they grow large amount of telecommuters, layoffs and who goes first? Telecommuters. I tried to warn my co workers, but they don't listen. Waiting for that ki-l list to hit my desk any day...
Also, 1x1 used to be for personal conversations and get to know manager and employee and work on career path, now it's I need this and this and this and why is this not done yet?? And you take a lunch break and everyone freaks out you miss a bs scrum call due to it being during your break time. So I really even get lunch any more. I'm racking 12 hour days non stop just to be about an inch under water drowning.
I posted my thoughts on the last survay, and feel I was retaliated at review/bonus where my manager didn't write a single word on my review....
I'm making my plans to jump off soon. Which sucks. Schwab was the tech company to work for!
@1qsh+1lK1gs3l This is exactly why I left (also former TDA). It’s hard to point to any one thing as the main reason. It was more like “Death by 1000 cuts”. I finally realized I had to make a change and left summer of 22. I don’t leave work angry/sad anymore and that has had a huge impact on my well-being.
OP, I hope you can find somewhere that makes you happy again. My advice is make a plan to find that place and commit to it.
When I found out how much more pay my less experienced, less educated, less motivated coworker is making compared to me. This was after watching all the promotions in parallel organizations being handed out like Halloween candy.
The wokeness of the company turns my stomach. While I know it’s not Chuck’s wishes but rather, to stay in good graces of the cancel mob.
@7sij+1lK1gs3l I'll get something on the calendar.
Let’s plan on a meet to discuss what we’re going to discuss when we meet.
Absolutely insane place to work. No one really cares about engineering practices. It is all about perception and useless demos to higher ups. Boss openly says it doesn't matter how bad our software is as long as we do a shiny demo.
Just quit instead of talking about it.
First seriously started questioning it a short time after moving over from TDA. The bureaucracy, red tape, organizational bloat, broken offshore model, and excessive meetings to name a few is completely incomprehensible.
