Class action is way go but getting enough ppl together who give up severance is big obstacle. I had family member sue employer took her 3 yrs but worth it in 750k payout. She bought new house.

"Was supposed to go out on three months disability"

Literally makes you prime candidate for a layoff. What were you trying to achieve with the lawyers?

I contacted two labor lawyers. I am 64 and was about to have an operation when I had the zoom call. Was supposed to go out on three months disability, had the case number and was all set. My manager and HR did not care. I called a lawyer, they said I had a great case, however it could take 18 months to 3 years and I could not sign the severance agreement. The other lawyer said the same thing, these cases take a long time, the severance agreements are designed to help the employer, if I wanted to sue I could not sign the agreement. Unfortunately I need the severance package to live. I hope there is a class action lawsuit

I had a funny experience with Dell lawyers. They called me to let me know they started an investigation to check if age discrimination was a factor in my layoff (I’m 55, and the average age of employees laid off in my group was 5-6 years more than the average age of the reference group.)

After two weeks they called me to tell me the result of the investigation. I know the tension is ki-ling you… would Dell admit wrongdoing and suggest to compensate me handsomely to keep my mouth shut? Will they offer all laid off people double the pay just to get out of this legal mess? What do you think?

Either you win (which is unlikely) or lose, the lawyer still gets your money.
