At this point in time, Fidelity would have to have a major change in direction to cause a major layoff.
They are “all in” with regards to migration to Cloud based computing and have been training and hiring to do so.
Upper management overstates progress being made in order to look good, but us in the trenches know the real truth.
They’d slow progress even further with a layoff.
They can’t yet afford to let go of the few remaining “old timers” familiar with the legacy system. They are now realizing they let too many go with last VBO and have hired some back at 1/2 time at even higher costs.
Fidelity is in a major transitional state, no layoffs unless a major collapse occurs.
