What’s the Word on Layoffs This Week

Anyone seeing odd meetings, having different expectations set, any inside info on if anything will happen this week? If so, please post here

I’m beginning to wonder if anything will happen at all. This board is usually very busy leading up to impacts but it’s been very quiet both here and at work. If something is going to happen in less than 48 hours, they have kept it very secret with little to no leaks. On the flip side, with work at Verizon being very slow and quiet… maybe that’s a bad sign 🤷‍♂️

I still see a lot of 'kicking the can' on decisions related to organization happening and some ambiguous 'milestone' events that have to happen. The excuses keep changing from 'year-end convos' to 'comp sheets' to now more 'org announcements'. My money is on the 16th being a sizable RIF because I don't know how we can continue to operate if it doesn't happen with so much uncertainty in the org.

Wrong again. They get around WARN by giving 60 days notice of being off payroll which aligns with WARN requirements.

WARN is if there is a bulk amount in one location- Verizon gets around this by having employees in different locations and not just one bulk amount. They did file one years back when they closed a call center in the Northeast because it was around 300 people at one location that they were letting go.

To the dopes who think the WARN notices are indicative of incoming layoffs: You couldn't be more wrong when you say no WARN filings mean no layoffs. Verlieson won't do a WARN notice until after the announcements. Its corporate HR shillary 101. Get with the times.

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in predicting layoffs using WARN act filings. There are a hundred different loopholes that preclude you from seeing what's going to happen before it actually does.

No warn act doesn’t mean no layoffs. Only needs to be filed when a certain number is impacted from the same location from what I understand

::no prenotices have gone to hr:: they are all focused on some sort of software transition:: not even a hiring freeze in most departments:: maybe nothing major until the fall:: only minor reorganizing::
