Employees told they would be terminated for discussing salary and bonus

During MAP reviews our leader told each employee that all salary information is not to be discussed and if it is that it would lead to termination and this was echoed by the VP on an all team call. Does this not violate national labor laws as it goes against ensuring equitable pay?

It's your legal right to talk about your own pay wages. Every boss I have had with this company has said do not talk about pay or I'll write you up. They just dont want to hear your coworkers complain to them (managers) that someone is making more then them.

I have a co-worker who has bragged about being paid six figures in our team meeting. He is definitely overpaid.

No one said that. All leaders of people are given talking points for MAP. Stop lying.

Federal Labor Law allows employees to openly discuss their pay and benefits. Many states, including California, allow it also. It has been successfully been argued for, backed up, and verified in court cases. Your leader and VP are a legal liability with no legal leg to stand on. They're trying to scare you.
