I'm asking because I've read a few negative posts here about Optum Tech. I don't have such a bad opinion, but admittedly I haven't been here for a long time.

Optum Tech and UHC live in 2 entirely different worlds. If you never have to work with the other side, it’s ok. But odds are you will, and you’ll never find any alignment in your work. Just constant turmoil with no reward.
Wait till you get your annual review, no raise the first year. Second year unless you walk on water you will get 1%, that’s in 2yrs… what’s the inflation rate in best of times?
So true.. the quality of leadership in tech is saddening only a few high integrity leaders left
Bottom workers get blamed when the “leadership” got rewarded for do little ..zero accountability ! They are “pass thru” puppets all software are outdated - EOL and EOS as in end of life/support, even MS would not sell extended support as the shelf life was expired over 5 years ago!! Leadership priority is to fill their pocket faster than you could blink your eyes .. easy $$ when you are in the buying sprint with no strategic integration to retain talents.. throw support across the fence - offshore to further “showcase” “cost effectiveness.. it’s easy when you have artificial growth to drive stock share from nothing to close to $500.. house of cards waiting to collapse.. they all have golden parachutes to safeguard thru “termination” bi directional with or without cause.. is it the top or the poor workers lead to current state of Optum tech and many other depts ??
You could genuinely be one with a great leader shielding you from the mess. There are literally….very few.
TLCP was started by the same joker from IBM Watson fame. Oh well and joined by the block chain fiasco. Where’s the accountability?
Tech does not understand the business and won’t listen to their business stakeholders or subject matter experts. They will drive the business of healthcare under with their shiny new toys.
Big talks and shiny objects.
No accountability on business outcomes, except peak season drama
Fraud programs like TLCP to payout big boyz club
- Absolute cr@p management. Clueless, severe aversion to change. No idea about how real software dev works. Thinks yelling, screaming, and threatening people is the way to manage them.
- Outdated tech stack - another aversion to change.
- Constant outsourcing to India or Philippines. Low cost > quality work.
- Ton of work for mediocre salary. No room for growth or promotion unless you're willing to get involved in serious politics and sr3wing over a lot of people in the process
