Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

How many of you remember enjoying your jobs?

It was such a long time ago that I nearly forgot it, but I do still remember that there were better times at HON. I'd like to think it's only HON that's changed and we can find something better elsewhere, but any company I look up on this forum seems to have identical issues as we do. It's depressing, to say the least.

I loved my first few roles but then each one for progressively worse. Worse workload, worse management, more unsolvable problems...until the one I have now which is by far the worst. The supply chain is so bad, it almost feels intentional. It's either intentional or it's criminal negligence on part of the ALT. Either way, AERO is dying the death of 1000 cuts. Cuts to staffing, cuts to investing in AEROs future, and cuts to morale.

Back when I started, there was the typical corporate America BS but it was tolerable. Fast forward to today, where it seems like the VOR survey results are used to reinforce and expand on the things the employees voice concerns about. Now it feels like the ALT seizes every opportunity to demoralize and demotivate employees at every opportunity.

"Just do more with less" is the mantra they all keep repeating. Yes, do more work with less benefits, less raise percentages and ever falling morale and enthusiasm. These days I just go through the motions, painting a smile on my face and pretending I care about this job or this company; they certainly dont even bother hiding the fact that they HATE employees. Just a drag on their MIP bonuses I guess.

I can't even figure out how how mad dog is still even employed at Honeywell. I'm assuming he has some leverage over someone they don't want getting out; a classic and perfect example of failing upwards! The rest of the "leadership" is full of yes men and yes women who just like in the story of "The Emperor's New Clothes", just keep bobbing their heads yes, all hoping for that next big promotion. The funny part is, most of them are completely incompetent and so it doesn't even matter who gets into what positions because the entire division is being ran like the movie "Idiocracy".

I realize this has turned into somewhat of a soliloquy from a disgruntled employee. That may be true, but I'll bet more people under the E band feel the same way. We are all on the same sinking ship, afterall. "why don't you just leave if you're so unhappy"? Patience, my dear reader, patience.

Loved Honeywell when i joined 8 years ago. The company slowly changed at first then more rapidly when COVID hit and the word pivot was introduced. Was upset when I got made redundant but not as upset when I foolishly went back. Didn't last 6 months before I handed in my notice. Now much happier with life

My boss (Sr. Mgr.), his boss (Director), and her boss (VP) all left within a 6-month period in 2017. They knew then, but it took me another year and a half to figure out, that the days of "working together at AiResearch" were dead and buried. The people who replaced them came from outside the department (materials engineering) and didn't have a clue. Prior to 2017 I enjoyed my job and had, to a greater or lesser extent, since I first hired on in 1968 and came back to stay in1980.

There’s probably not very many older people left. Who remembers those days.

Around 2015 it started going downhill. 2019 afterburner engaged.

Started at Honeywell Aero in 2016, and I feel like I witnessed the "beginning of the end."

Lots of complaints from customers about the outsourcing of customer support functions in previous years, but those problems seemed mostly (mostly) manageable.

Then came the endless supply chain challenges (pre-Covid it was bad, and post-Covid it only got worse). Anniston R&O closing. Co-n Rapids R&O closing. I'd go in front of customers in 2018 and 2019 and apologize for our poor performance. We got a pass for a year or two, but eventually our excuses wore thin. Customers knew we were doing our best, but weren't getting support from the home office. "I don't care about slides showing your recovery plans, Honeywell. I want to see your damn recovery!"

Watched a lot of talent retire or otherwise leave. Over time, it just became incredibly clear we were going to cut/sell/trim anything we could to make numbers.

Good luck to those who are left.

I was with the company (in the old HBS organization) for a long time and until 5 years ago I had so many fond memories. Great leadership, growth, respect, empowerment. I was so proud to represent our brand in the industry.

It’s hard to believe what’s happened…

What a really weird and id--tic post! We all know Honeywell has been totally decimated in the last 2-3 years, it was completely different just 4 years ago!!
You are just trying to play an angle that Honeywell is just like any other company, lmfao get outta here you sad HR troll.

Sorry but even in today's disgraceful America you will be hard pressed to find a corporation worse than Honeywell. I have previously worked for 5 large American corporations and remain very well contacted so feel cheered when I tell you Honeywell is rock bottom.

As sc-mmy as it is, the 401k match thing is being implemented in other places as well. I remember it was being touted as such a great thing for the employees with a straight face LOL

I never knew that salary increases could be rolled back or white color employees furloughed until I joined HON. It was also quite a shock to see people put on PIP's just to save money on year end bonuses. The 401K match being paid in lumpsum only if you are employed in Jan is also a unique HON practice

@OP
Look for companies that don't have much of a presence on this forum. People come here to complain. I've looked up many large companies here and you are right there are a bunch on here that can be said to be as bad as Honeywell. But there are also many not on here.

I think 2018 was the beginning of the end and the cracks widened, life was good before then.
2019 was when it all changed and then 2020 to 2023 Honeywell just became the worst place to work imaginable.
It has become impossible to deliver any quality of output so I am handing in my notice in at the end of next month.
If I didn't know any better I would say DA was paid to destroy the company plain and simple.
