Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

FirstNet Marketing gone, US sales on going, Cyber going, International Sales next...

Cuts happening at break next speed. All will be settled for 2024. But a long and painful road ahead for anyone left.

Cybersecurity services with T are embarrassing. White label products from other reputable firms with slim margin…then add in our awful billing and we lose $$. No one takes T seriously in this space…just ask. Hundreds of other nimble companies delivering state of the art services at half the cost. Companies just don’t put a premium on T services. Anyone working in this overlay group has plenty of time to golf or knit. Party is over folks.

The fact that T is interested in selling cybersecurity related business, which is in demand right now, tells me a lot about our financial picture.
I feel very fortunate to be very close to retiring. I feel for those wanting to work another 10-15 years here.

AT&T can not even do their own Penetration Testing. That is pretty sad for a CycberSecurity Service offering. AlienVault was good prior to AT&T CyberSecurity leadership turning it into a hot mess. Promotions were forced when a subgroup threatened to leave. Directors with no direct reports increase lack of authority, cost, time and communication required to get to resolution.

Firstnet was over staffed since its inception. Now it’ll be cutback and run like the rest of the company. The Fed Govt has criteria Firstnet has to meet, but at this point everything will be scrutinized until T gets expenses where they want them.
Do more with less will be the motto in 2023 and forward.

Cyber is critical in this day and age and not “going” anywhere. Why does FirstNet even need marketing? That seems a smart decision.
