Is it true that I can work 28 hours and be considered full-time since I have worked at Sam's for 30 years? Management says no I would have to go to part-time.

Yes, it states it in the Associate Pay Policy. If you were hired before December 31st of 2001, you can work 28 hrs and still be considered full time. Look it up under People Policies on the Wire under the Work tab.
when receiving and claims became one area, we had 5 fulltime people in receiving/claims. new schedule called for 2 FT and 1 PT for AM. I was forced to go 32hrs( hire date was 1989) and told by HR at the time that I was NOT grandfathered in at 28hr and that the company got rid of that a few years back. As a result I lost more accrued PTO, long term disability, Christmas bonus was cut from 150.00 to 20.00 and fulltime Sams share. I have since gotten FT status back( was only PT for about 7months) Make sure you get 100% of what's coming to you! Good luck!
Sure you can I did after 25 years, but if you have an jerk for a team lead or manager then you may be told by one of them there's not enough coverage in your area. Good Luck , having 3 days off a week is like a mini vacation !!
HIRE DATE: BEFORE JAN 1, 2001. NUMBER OF HRS TO QUALIFY FOR FT STATUS: 28 HR
HIRE DATE: JAN 1, 2001 FORWARD. NUMBER OF HRS TO QUALIFY FOR FT STATUS: 34 HR
The only way to mess that up is to have gone on LOA.
Yes, but good luck. Depending on what area you work in they aren’t going to let you get away with working 28 hours. If block scheduling calls for 40, that’s what they expect. I was told no, can’t do it.
I started working at Sam's in 2000. I am grandfathered in at 28 hours full time. So you also would be, if you have been full time the whole 30 years. Also has to be continuous 30 years. Not having quit and come back.
depends... I believe the cut off is those who hired in before december of 1992.. I left after 32 years last August. I hired in in 1990 January. I could have worked just 28 hours for full time but never did. There were a couple people in our club who did though. If you go to the walmart associate website where you can report absences and the like you should be able to find the info you want in the section about benefits. If you were hired in 1993 and are going to hit thirty years this year then you will not be eligible for the 28 hours full time status...
