@1sbg+1lnoIAWx. As a supervisor I have lowered the ranking of HiPos in the assessment meeting and EVERY TIME a couple days after the meeting been told that their ranking was moved back up after the meeting. Unclear to me if this was due to a mob executive sponsor taking action or for diversity target reasons. Don’t blame supervisors for everything. Supervisors have surprisingly little influence on things.
We should redefine a "HiPO" as an employee that has clearly demonstrated the ability to sunset a bad idea quickly before spending millions on the idea only to sunset it two or three years later.
“This engagement is required because there’s literally not enough time in someone’s career to make it from the bottom to the top”
That’s the legend that the company sells for decades to justify their corrupt system. “There’s not enough time” only because the company has such a convoluted system. In reality, especially highly sponsored people end up by learning exactly nothing except the corporate lingo, because each and every supervisor they have will serve them exclusively softball assignments, meant to prove that the incompetent old fa_rt who sponsored them was right in their choice. Arrogant imb_eciles choosing younger arrogant imb_eciles. That’s why we got where we are now.

@2qsc+1lnoIAWx generally the number is potential 34+ that gets the special treatment, and 36+ is the “do no wrong” chosen ones
HiPos are rarer than you think. Only when the CL potential is very high, that it gets extra attention from EMTEC. If it’s very very high, then there is exec level engagement for an individuals career. This engagement is required because there’s literally not enough time in someone’s career to make it from the bottom to the top, so someone has to steward it along. It’s probably only at the exec level potential that you are what most people consider a “hi-po”.
How someone can determine that someone has exec level potential when they are early in their careers is a different discussion
Had multiple years of E/O assessments (and the previous rankings), was not a HiPo. The difference is more protection for the HiPos from low rankings.
Did you all toss the chicken salad at any point?
I was never ranked above VG until 2021, when suddenly was promoted 2 CL.
It does happen.
I suspect - only evidence I have - it all started when I profusely complemented some chicken salad at a pot luck lunch. Back like 2018.
That chicken salad maker is now our division manager.
That's my only thought of the why or how.
HiPos with sponsorship are immune from frock in ranking. All the supervisors in the rank meeting are scared to speak out against a sponsored HiPo especially if the sponsor is in the room.
I got ranked OPD twice and likely again this year. I’m not even sure I’m a Hipo.

HiPos will complain if they drop to VG and below hahaha.
One time I had a colleague complained like mad about his/her/they/them/attackhelicopter ranking went down, and I thought the ranking went down to NSI. Turned out, only dropped to VG.
Yes. They suck.
